The Arab Cultural Club honors the Red Cross
As one of the activities of the 51st Beirut Arab International Book Exhibition, the Arab Cultural Club commemorated the Lebanese Red Cross as a gratitude to the commitment for humanitarian service and sacrifice in fulfilling its duties. On the occasion, the Chief of the Club Mr. Omar Fadel presented an honorary shield to the Vice-President of the Lebanese Red Cross Mr. Walid Kebbi.
The ceremony started with the novelist Nermine El Khansa who said that the humanitarian associations, like the Lebanese Red Cross, walk voluntarily on the road of sacrifice in a strong determination towards a more humanitarian world.
Then, the Chief of the Doctors Syndicate Georges Aftimos described the volunteers of the Red Cross as heroes who rush for help, whenever there is an accident or a disaster, regardless of difficulties and dangers.
He assured: "they don't discriminate among people and don't ask about the religion, the sect, the party, and the region”.
The Ex-General Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs Mrs. Naamat Kanaan said that this commemoration is a declaration that the Lebanese Red Cross is one of the remaining Lebanese associations that lights the future we all wish and seek.
She finally expressed that the unlimited trust of the Lebanese public in the Lebanese Red Cross which is the real commemoration.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Red Cross friends, interested people, the head of Public Relations and communications department in the Lebanese Red Cross Mr. Ghaleb El Ayoubi, and the director of the department Mr. Ayad El Mounzer.
