A mobile vehicle for Blood Withdrawal
In a humanitarian initiative to support the works and the services of the Lebanese Red Cross, the Swiss Red Cross has donated a mobile vehicle car for blood withdrawal in order to help the blood donation campaigns in the regions for the service of the patients and people in need.

The ceremony was organized in the headquarters of the Lebanese Red Cross -Spears street (Beirut) in the presence of his Eminence, the Minister of Public Health Dr. Mohamad Jawad Khalife accompanied by his consultant Mr. Ali Khalife, her Eminence Mrs. Laila El Soloh Hamadeh, the Swiss Ambassador in Lebanon Mr. Francois Paras, Mr. Hans Haniman the Chief of Disasters Management Unit in the Swiss Red Cross, Mr. Jurdi Raich, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Lebanon, the head of the delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Mrs. Anne Catherine Moore Carlsin, the President of the Lebanese Red Cross Sheikh Sami El Dahdah, the head of Blood Banks Mrs. Hala Jaber, members of the Executive Committee and of the Local Committee of Beirut, the members in charge of the nine blood banks, directors, and volunteers.

After cutting the ribbon and putting the car in service, Mrs. Jaber made a speech in which she welcomed the attendants and thanked the Minister Khalife for his special attendance and Mrs. Laila El Soloh for her participation in this event. She praised the valuable and special assistance of the Swiss Red Cross and the Swiss Embassy and the cooperation and the coordination of the International Committee of the Red Cross and all the participants in realizing this vital project.

Also, Sheikh El Dahdah thanked the Swiss Ambassador and the Swiss Red Cross for this generous donation considering this contribution of great indications for the Lebanese Red Cross Society for its humanitarian dimension and for it reflects a deep relationship among the Lebanese and Swiss people, a historical relation marked with humane friendly bonds and he also thanked all the participants in this project.

Then, the Ambassador Paras expressed his appreciation to the great work done by the Lebanese Red Cross and its volunteers during the last period in complete neutrality.

This assistance is one of much assistance done by the Swiss Red Cross in supporting Lebanon, the Lebanese people, and the Lebanese Red Cross. That since July 2006, the Swiss Red Cross granted about 755.000 dollars as humanitarian assistances to Lebanon through the International Committee of the Red Cross and through the Lebanese Red Cross within the objective of supporting humanitarian services. In addition to the mobile vehicle for blood withdrawal and buying a new first aid center in Mraijeh and completely equipping it in cooperation with the Swiss Red Cross and the Swiss Institution for Cooperation and Development. All this is done for carrying out the strategy of the Lebanese Red Cross in the first aid service.
Two ambulances and first aid materials were also granted in cooperation and coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
