The Lebanese Red Cross organized the annual national conference of the Emergency Teams for over two days in Rotana Hotel – Hazmiyeh. The opening ceremony was attended by the Lebanese Red Cross President, Mr. Sami El Dahdah, the vice president, Mr. Walid kibbi, the head and director of the Emergency Medical Teams, Mrs. Rosy Boulos and Mr. George Kettaneh, Head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Lebanon, Mr. George Comninos, the Country Representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent in Lebanon, Mr. Ole Johan Hauge, and several members of the Executive and Central Committees in addition to the department directors and staff. Also, the opening was attended by delegations from the Red Crescent and Red Cross operating in Lebanon, in addition to the members of the medical committee, and the heads of the regions from Emergency Medical Teams.
After the Lebanese national anthem, the Lebanese Red Cross anthem, and a moment of silence on the memory of the martyrs, the EMS volunteer Bassam Barakat welcomed the attendees, and then there were speeches for Kettani, Boulos, Comninos, and Sheikh El Dahdah.
This conference aims at showing the five-years strategy that was prepared in 2007 and launched in 2008 through an assessment about what has been achieved and the difficulties encountered. Plans of action and programs have also been developed to complete the projects in order to achieve the strategy that aims at strengthening the capacity of the Emergency Medical Services to reinforce its missions effectively and efficiently in accordance with the international standards. More over, studies have been made to find a way to disseminate the strategy and spread it on the EMS volunteers in all the centers during 2010 and complete its implementation to accomplish the most humanitarian, and faster service with high technology.
