The Lebanese Red Cross Opening a blood bank in Tyr
Under the patronage of the President of Parliament Nabih Berri represented by the Minister of Public Health, Ali Hassan khalil, the Lebanese Red Cross opened a blood bank in its center in Tyr which is the twelfth in Lebanon and the third in the South. Jamil Hussein Khaled, who is a member in the Lebanese red cross in tyr, had funded the construction of the center and the civil department in the UN and the Italian and Korean battalions had contributed in its completion. The opening ceremony was attended by MP Ali Khreis, the former Minister Leila ALSolh Hmadi, officials, spiritual, and military figures with respect to social activists. Also the president of the Lebanese Red Cross, the Vice President Walid Kebbe, members of executive committee, and officials and volunteers had attended.
The ceremony began by the National Anthem and the Lebanese Red Cross and the UN anthems and a minute of silence in the memory of the martyrs of the Lebanese Red Cross followed by a speech for the head of Tyr Branch in the Lebanese Red Cross Mozayan Seklawi Ajami who thanked all those who contributed in the success of this project especially the Italians and Koreans.
From her side, the head of Blood Banks Hala Jabr said: “Our Success in blood transfusion service is due to the dependence, since 54 years, of decentralization policy, and according to the need”.
The General Commander of the UN General Alberto Asarta made a speech in which he said that the cooperation between the loyal stakeholders and the UN elements is an evidence of the growing and ongoing partnership and the friendship between the UN and the people of South Lebanon.
The president of the Lebanese Red Cross Sheikh Sami Al Dahdah also thanked the president Nabih Berri for his patronage and said: “this patronage is very valuable and we appreciate and cherish it.” He added: “we believe that it is our duty to try our best, through this achievement, to strengthen our capabilities in order to alleviate the suffering of its people”.
Then the Minister Ali Hassan Kahlil said a speech in which he stressed on the push toward securing the potentials in order to make the chances of the services provided by the Red Cross wider and more inclusive than it is today, asserting on the commitment to increase the budget of the Red Cross on 2012 to make it more capable in giving and providing the required services.
The ceremony included a musical performance of the artist Naser Makhool and a distribution of Medals of Honor to all those who contributed to the completion of the blood bank. Then the attendees headed toward the Red Cross center and unveil the memorial plaque on the occasion.
