Lebanese Red Cross organizes Child Festival 2013
    Under the high patronage of the First Lady Ms. Wafaa Michel Suleiman represented by Ms. Linda Sharbel, wife of General Marwan Sharbel, the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, the Lebanese Red Cross opened the Child’s Festival in Forume de Beirut which was organized by the Youth department, in the presence of the President Lebanese Red Cross Mrs. Suzanne Oueiss, the Vice President Dr. Maryam Ghandour, Head of youth department Mr. Nadim Hiti, and delegations from the Belgian Red Cross and from Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies operating in Lebanon, NGOs interested in children as well as officials and volunteers from the departments, branches, centers, and administration of the Lebanese Red Cross, friends and supporters and a number of representatives of the festival sponsers. 
   
     Noting that about 550 volunteers from the Youth centers spreading all over Lebanon have participated in the organization and implementation of the festival, which lasted over two days and that was receiving nearly 8000 children from 6 to 14 years old who came with their parents or through their schools. The festival included games which aimed at spreading the humanitarian standards and educating the child to acquire the concepts of peace, acceptance of others, non-discrimination and non-violence as well as introducing him to the child’s rights, the principles and rules of international humanitarian law, and the principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement through interactive, educational and recreational activities in addition to environmental and health awareness, and various educational activities.
